About us

We are Jason and Tellena Randall and we live in Eudora, Kansas with our three children. In year three of navigating Jason’s colorectal cancer diagnosis (full story - Jason's Patient Story), our family was gifted a vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii. During this trip, we realized that we weren’t living. We were stuck in this deep survival mode, which is mental and emotional depression. We were alive between scans and not really living. Our family was stuck in survival mode with no direction.

During this trip something in us woke up. We reflected on our last few years and asked, “what have we been doing?” Even though Jason was doing a lot of support work, we realized we were just going through the motions of the day to day, thinking we were going to get back to a “normal” life or what our life was before Jason was diagnosed. We were alive, but not really living our lives.

Upon returning stateside, we came up with the idea of going back to the Big Island of Hawaii. Jason looked at Tellena and said, “I have this crazy idea. Would you ever move back, get a secondary house and host people to experience what we did?” Jason thought she was going to say, “You’re nuts, Jason. No.” But Tellena said, “Yeah. I think that would be great.” So, we started developing this plan to give people a place to experience what we had experienced while there. The Big Island is called the healing island. It’s a beautiful magical place and it’s hard to describe the feeling it gives a person; the level of peace and tranquility that comes over your whole being is a welcome relief from the stress of life, especially the rigors that come with cancer. If you’ve never been, we highly suggest going someday.

We are in the process of uprooting and moving our family out of Kansas to live in Hawaii by mid-2024 and to start finding the perfect property with an additional ‘ohana hale (family house) to start hosting cancer survivors. Our mission and goal are to help others find the peace, healing, and purpose they are needing to find in their new lives after their cancer experiences have started.

We’ve formed this non-profit to achieve this goal and our dream to take our cancer support experience to the next level by helping people reeling from a cancer diagnosis to find their own purpose and meaning again. We aim to provide them with education, tools, and the peace of mind to allow that greater healing to happen.

Thank you in supporting our mission.

Things begin to happen while on a retreat when you allow yourself to be removed from the place from where your cancer trauma has occurred and relax from the rigors of survivorship. This leads to a greater healing of the mind, body, and spirit and can help one find their direction, purpose, and to find a new “normal” after a diagnosis
